Opening Remarks from our Commercial Director

Mark Powell

Happy New Year, one and all!

I hope you have all had an amazing Christmas and New Year, and find yourself fully rested and ready for the challenges of a new year.

Looking forward to 2026 challenges, we need to review 2025 and indeed, the last 5 years from the perspective of business cycles.

During this period, we have experienced some seismic world events, Covid and the Ukraine war to name just 2, which affected supply chains dramatically, creating shortages and turbo charging inflation globally.

Healy strategy became wholly focused on ensuring supply continuity to our customers at the most competitive price available – a strategy that was supported by our amazing manufacturing partners and by flexing our technical abilities to provide alternative, innovative solutions.

The back end of 2024 saw a (relatively) calmer period Geopolitically where manufacturing output increased, logistics routes unblocked and consumer markets changed as the “cost of living” crisis dug in.

Also worth mentioning the GLP-1 weight-loss drugs effect. This has most definitely reduced consumption within the snacks market (the largest sector for our Emsland Potato and Pea ranges) as well as many other food sectors. There appears to be no stopping the growth of this medication, and if it safely reduces the obesity epidemic then it’s a great thing, albeit at the cost of sales of our traditional ingredients……

However, change brings opportunity! Healy Technical Team are working closely with our Principal Supply Partners to create the necessary, harmonious and nutritionally supportive products needed for balanced diets. Watch this space for updates!!!

Ingredient type products (starches, sweeteners, potato flakes/granules etc) all fell in price due to lower demand and large stocks that must be moved in advance of new harvests. The decline accelerated in some sectors during H1, 2026 as favourable weather conditions and increased planting (based on the assumption of market growth) created more negative pressure.

The positive news is that market dynamic appears to have settled into a new “norm” with harvest completed and market conditions flattened…… no doubt there will be more change, big or small, in the coming months. For this, we will be prepared to react accordingly to meet your needs.

Until then, we will work tirelessly to constantly supply the best ingredients with, high quality, competitive pricing, excellent service, innovation, strong social and environmental governance, with a smile, to you our customer / partners.

Have an amazing 2026!!!

Team News

People updates, milestones, and moments worth celebrating across the team.

Looking back at my 10 years at Healy Group has been a great way to end 2025. My time with the company began as an apprentice with little knowledge of accounts and has progressed through roles to my new title of Head of Finance – UK.

The journey has been challenging at times, but also one of growth and progression. The company has doubled in turnover, our team has almost doubled in size, and the new generation of leadership have continued to innovate and build on the solid base we’ve had for many years. I’d also like to think there has been some progression in both my skills and me personally since I joined the team as a shy 18-year-old!

I’m grateful for the opportunities Healy Group has provided in the last decade, especially to Anthony Healy, our CFO, who took the chance on me with the apprenticeship scheme and continues to push, support and guide me.

I’m excited to see what the next 10 years holds!

Growing Our Team!

We’ve been growing the team over the past few months and are delighted to welcome some new faces. Cliff Jones joined us in November as Business Development Manager in the Specialities team in the UK, followed by Joe Russell, who came on board in January as our Operations Administrator. More recently, Ankit Anand joined the Specialities team in Ireland as Business Development Manager. Welcome to the team, all!

Exciting Baby News!

Kimberley Sewell, our Logistics Administrator, headed off on maternity leave just before Christmas and is expecting her little one in February. Megan Smith will also be heading off on maternity leave in the coming months, with her baby due in May. We wish them both the best, and look forward to welcoming them back in 2027.

Charity means a lot to us at Healy Group – we aim to make a meaningful difference by backing charities that resonate personally with our customers and colleagues.

We were delighted to make a donation to LoveMusgrove after our Christmas hamper winner, Paul Rogers, shared his story.

Earlier this year, Paul faced a serious health challenge, and the incredible support he received from the team made all the difference. It’s inspiring to see how the Musgrove community rallies around its members, and we’re proud to contribute to such a meaningful cause.

We invited you to nominate the charitable causes that are closest to your heart, helping us select our end-of-year donations.

We have donated to the following causes, as chosen by you:
